'THE SECRET LAND' - OPERATION HIGHJUMP 1946-47

This is the official film of the largest Antarctic expedition ever undertaken, Operation Highjump. Admiral Richard E. Byrd and Admiral Richard Cruzen - both veterans of the 1939-41 United States Antarctic Service Expedition - convinced the U.S. Navy to make use of the surplus resources from WWII to mount a major exploration expedition consisting of 13 ships and over 4,000 men. "The Secret Land" is a Hollywood production narrated by actors Robert Montgomery and Van Heflin, but based on actual documentary film taken during the expedition.
