2022 Gathering in Burlington, Vermont

Come to Burlington, Vermont August 12-14, 2022!

It will be more than four years since our last Antarctican Society Gathering when we convene in Burlington in 2022. That is too long! It is time to shake off the Covid blues, reconnect with old friends and meet new ones while sharing our common interest in Antarctica. This will be a program of interesting presentations, great events and lots of socializing. Come join us!

This will be an informal day for those coming in early. We are planning a visit to the unique Shelburne Museum in the afternoon and possibly dinner at local restaurants that evening for those interested. All will be “no-host” (cost not included in your registration). The Shelburne Museum is offering a special group discounted rate of $17 per person and a guided tour of the Fine Arts Americana exhibits. Registration will begin at our venue, Main Street Landing Performing Arts Center (to see more, CLICK HERE) at the Burlington waterfront at 9:00 a.m. EDT. This will be followed by welcoming comments, presentations, memorials, and a members forum.

We will have a reception in the evening at the nearby ECHO Science and Nature Center, a museum dedicated to learning about Lake Champlain and its environment as well as promoting STEM education. Saturday, August 13, 2022

Saturday will feature additional interesting presentations and an auction of a variety of quality donated Antarctic-related items. 100% of the proceeds from the auction will be used to support the ongoing work of the Antarctican Society. To see a partial list of these auction items, CLICK HERE.

We will convene at the waterfront Saturday evening for a not-to-be-missed sunset cruise and dinner aboard the tour boat Spirit of Ethan Allen (to see more about the boat, CLICK HERE)

Sunday will be primarily a day of socializing at the North Beach Park, a little over a mile north of our venue. North Beach - as the name implies - is right on the beach of Lake Champlain. We will rent a pavilion there and attendees may come and go as they wish from 9:00 a.m. onwards. You can swim, rent a kayak or paddle board, hike the short scenic trails nearby, or simply enjoy a hosted picnic with other attendees. There will be a short Board meeting there at 10:00 a.m. which all members are welcome to attend. The Park is on the Burlington Bike and Walking Path which runs along the Lake for more than 10 miles and is a great place to bicycle or walk.

Gathering Planning Guide

We have created a 2022 Gathering Planning Guide to assist registrants and prospective registrants in planning for travel, lodging, parking, navigation, dining and sightseeing. To download a copy of the Guide, CLICK HERE.

Registration

Registration includes all three days of the program plus the Reception plus the Sunset Cruise plus the picnic for $225.00. Refund policy: 50% from April 1, 2022 through June 30, 2022. We will also refund registrations for Covid-related reasons.

Guest tickets may be purchased for friends and family and includes the Reception, the Sunset Cruise and the picnic for $90.00. Guest registration does not include the daytime program on Friday and Saturday.

(1) filling out the hard copy registration form (CLICK HERE) and mailing it with a check to the address on the form, OR

(2) using the online registration payment and form below. (a) Complete the Registration payment first by using the “2022 Gathering Registration” dropdown box below to select the category of registration (Full or Guest) then, if you are paying for more than one registration in this category, use the second dropdown box to select the number. (b) Click the appropriate colored payment button which opens the payment form. (c) Make your payment and, If you need to register in the Guest category, refresh the page (circular arrow in upper left of page for Windows) or leave the page and return to it. (d) Select the Guest category and number and again click the appropriate payment button to make payment.
